Siddharth Jain, Executive Director of the INOX Group, announced on Monday that he had received, what he describes as, 'India Inc's first Tesla' vehicle. He took to social media platform X to share his enthusiasm about receiving the coveted EV.
"This one's for you Elon Musk!!! I am beyond thrilled to receive India Inc's 1st Tesla! I have been waiting for this precious moment ever since I visited the Tesla Fremont factory in 2017! Dreams do come true!" Jain wrote in his social media post.
The announcement comes as Tesla continues its strategic expansion across the Indian market. On August 8, the American electric vehicle manufacturer secured commercial space in the Delhi-national capital region (NCR), leasing 8,200 square feet at Delhi's Aerocity for a monthly rent of Rs 17.22 lakh, according to real estate data analytics firm CRE Matrix.
CRE Matrix, which reviewed the registration documents of the leasing transaction, confirmed that Tesla India Motor & Energy Pvt. Ltd. entered into the lease agreement for space at the Worldmark 3 project in Aerocity with Oak Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd.
Tesla's entry into the Indian market gained momentum on July 22 when the company launched online ordering capabilities in India, targeting the world's largest developing economy. The global electric vehicle leader began accepting orders through its website, with priority deliveries scheduled for four major metropolitan cities — Delhi, Pune, Mumbai, and Gurugram.
Tesla officially debuted in the Indian market on July 15 with the opening of its inaugural showroom in Mumbai. The 4,000-square-foot facility is situated in the upscale financial district of Bandra Kurla Complex within the Maker Maxity Mall.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated Tesla's first Indian showroom. During the event, the Tesla Model Y was launched in the Indian market in six color options: stealth grey, pearl white, diamond black, glacier blue, quick silver, and ultra red.
According to the pricing information available on Tesla's company website, the Model Y carries an on-road price of Rs 61 lakh in Mumbai. The rear-wheel drive variant is priced at Rs 59.89 lakh, while the long range rear-wheel drive model is available for Rs 67.89 lakh.
