The board of directors of HDFC Bank on March 28 approved the appointment of Sumant Rampal as Group Head- Mortgage Business with immediate effect in place of Arvind Kapil, the bank informed the exchanges.
The approval is based on the recommendation of the nomination and remuneration committee, the lender said.
Sumant Rampal has been with the bank for over 24 years and has worked in various business domains such as corporate banking, emerging corporate group and business banking verticals.
Before his new role, Rampal was the Group Head-Business Banking Working Capital, Rural Banking Group and Sustainability Livelihood Initiative.
Rampal contributed significantly in his role, scaling up the business and delivering on various digital initiatives, the financial institution said. Rampal completed his post-graduation from the Symbiosis Institute of International Business in 1997.
