P Phani Sekhar of Karvy Stock Broking told CNBC-TV18, "For a retail investor, there is no need to compulsorily invest, but if you have to, then I guess it is a good idea to look at defensives such as fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG). That will be my first vote of choice followed by pharma."
On Wednesday, Hindustan Unilever closed at Rs 924, up Rs 0.40, or 0.04 percent. It has touched an intraday high of Rs 944 and an intraday low of Rs 918.95.
Sun Pharmaceutical Industries closed at Rs 870.75, down Rs 13.70, or 1.55 percent. It has touched an intraday high of Rs 888.30 and an intraday low of Rs 866.80.
