Basant Maheshwari bullish on housing finance, NBFC stocks

Basant Maheshwari, Founder of The Equity Desk told CNBC-TV18, "I like the housing finance space but over the last two-three months my personal portfolio has also seen a shift. I have tried to diversify, not diversify in a broad sense but in the sense when you have to buy new stocks you got to sell something that you actually own. Creative destruction is a fantastic form of investing because something that is so closed to you has to go out someday.""When you buy new stocks you need the cash but out of this non banking financial companies (NBFC) space and also the consumer space broadly I am intact but you have to take some money off and you have to re-distribute. For a normal investor he makes 8 percent pre-tax FD. Even if he makes 16 percent compound annual growth rate (CAGR) on HDFC limited for which you don’t need a analyst, you don’t need me, you don’t need a channel you don’t need anybody just one has to go and buy the stock. 16 percent post tax on HDFC Limited is always better than doing an 8 percent pre-tax.""So the first thing that an investor should do is to understand that he should not be worried about these things. So, everybody knew China is going to slowdown, everybody knew that this will happen but nobody knew when it is going to happen. So that is the space to be where you can see certainty and surety, so that is how I am placed personally but housing finance and NBFCs I am very bullish there," he said.
