Kanchan Mishra, the Business Unit Head of Flipkart Minutes, is set to take on additional responsibilities as Smrithi Ravichandran moves out after spending over 13 years at the e-commerce major, sources told Moneycontrol.
Ravichandran was most recently the Vice President and Head of Mobiles and Travel at Flipkart and those duties will now be handed over to Mishra, who has spent around 11 years at Flipkart. While Manjari Singhal, chief business and growth officer at Cleartrip, will lead Travel for the company, Mishra will lead the Mobiles business.
Mobiles, along with other large appliances, is a key part of Flipkart’s business as it accounts for a significant chunk of the total gross merchandise value (GMV). With the new role, Mishra will become a key person at Flipkart as she will overlook the operations of up and coming Minutes, the quick commerce arm of Flipkart and Mobiles, a key revenue driver for the company.
A spokesperson for Walmart-owned Flipkart had denied Ravichandran’s exit to Moneycontrol on June 18. The company did not immediately reply to fresh queries.
Ravichandran is the latest to join a growing list of executives leaving the company.
Moneycontrol had exclusively reported that Ankit Jain, SVP, head of grocery and large supply chain; Prajakta Kanaglekar, VP, human resources (HR) (technology), Anurag Singhvi, VP, head of analytics, and Ganesh Ramaswamy, VP (Flipkart) and chief product and technology officer (CPTO), Cleartrip, quit were all moving out.
The exits come at a time when rivals such as Swiggy, Blinkit, Zepto and others poach experienced leaders from Flipkart to scale their own business, espically with a quick commerce layer.
