The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) will soon launch a new affordable housing plot scheme, specifically designed for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) of society, near upcoming Noida airport. The scheme will offer around 4,000 plots, each measuring 30 square meters, and priced at Rs 7.5 lakh each.
According to Authority officials, these plots are located in Sectors 17, 18 and 20 near the upcoming Noida International Airport in the Jewar region along Yamuna Expressway. The decision to launch affordable housing plot scheme comes after it was approved in the Authority’s board meeting on June 18.
Officials said that the scheme is meant for factory workers working in Yamuna Expressway region and also for those with an annual income of Rs 3 lakh. A successful applicant can pay in instalments up to seven years.
Arun Vir Singh, CEO, YEIDA said that as many as 29 percent of these EWS plots will be reserved for those who work in projects located in YEIDA areas, 5 percent plots will be reserved for retired defence personnel, and YEIDA employees each.
Singh said that the Authority has decided to launch this scheme to meet the surging demand in this rapidly developing area. With numerous domestic and global investors setting up new industrial and other projects here, there's a clear need for housing for the workforce.
“These workers will be employed in units across the Noida airport's catchment area along the Yamuna Expressway. Keeping the needs of economically weaker sections in mind, we'll be offering plots of 30 square meters, providing a vital housing solution for economic weaker sections of the society," Singh told Moneycontrol.
According to Authority documents, in the first phase total 4,288 affordable housing plots will be launched across sector 17, 6B Sector 18, 2A Sector 18 and sector 20. Maximum 2,335 plots will be in 6B Sector 18 followed by 881 plots in 2A Sector 18. Similarly, 548 plots will be in sector 20 and 524 plots in sector 17.
Officials said that the Authority will soon issue the launch and last date of the scheme along with other details. Allottees for these plots will be selected via a lucky draw. To be eligible, they'll need to pay 10 percent of the plot's total cost upfront, they said.
