Residential societies in Gautam Buddh Nagar have started implementing Noida Authority's new pet guidelines that make it compulsory for pet owners to register their pets by January 31 or pay a fine.
In case a pet injures a person, the pet owner will have to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 and bear the treatment expenses of the injured, according to elaborate guidelines.

The Noida Authority has also decided to provide some space to Residents' Welfare Associations (RWAs), Apartment Owners Associations (AOAs) and village residents for the construction of a shelter for stray dogs and sick street dogs.
The maintenance and management of these shelters will be done by the respective RWAs and AOAs.

Societies put up notices
Several housing complexes have put up notices in society premises to disseminate information about Noida Authority’s latest guidelines for governing and keeping pets and feeding stray animals.
The Authority in its Board meeting on Saturday had made it mandatory for pet owners to register their pets by January 31 next year or pay a fine.
"In case of any untoward incident due to pet dog/cat, treatment of injured person or animal will be done by the owner of the pet animal along with the imposition of fine of Rs 10,000 from March 1, 2023,” a public notice issued by a residential society Parx Laureate, located in sector 108, stated quoting Noida Authority Chief Executive Officer Ritu Maheshwari as saying.
Stringent rules
The residential society in its public notice said as per directions of the Noida Authority, if a pet dog litters in a public place, then it will be the responsibility of the animal owner to clean it.
The Authority has also made sterilisation and anti-rabies vaccination of pet dogs mandatory.
“Failing to do so, pet parents will have to pay a fine of Rs 2,000 every month,” the guidelines said.
Other residential complexes have also circulated these guidelines to their residents.
Deepima Dwivedi, a resident of Antriksh Forest in Noida sector 77, said that the AOA of her society has asked residents to abide by all guidelines issued by Noida Authority for pet owners.
“I own a Golden Retriever and I’m yet to register it with Noida Authority as I recently moved to the city from Lucknow. My society’s association have circulated these guidelines to all residents and asked them to mandatorily follow them. I’ll register my pet with the Authority at the earliest,” Dwivedi said.
