Money back policies are life insurance policies. In these policies during the term of policy, suppose this money back policy has a 20 year term. During this 20 year term, every five year or every four years as the product is, the policy holder will get regular income or a survival benefit. However, at the end of that term, say as I said it is 20 years policy so after 20 years whatever that remaining money plus the bonus, etc whatever benefits those will be paid to the policy holder. All the benefits will cease in that policy thereafter. This is not a pension plan.

When we talk about pension plan we are talking about receiving money after retirement. So, suppose I buy a pension policy it is totally different than the money back plan. Here during the term of policy I am regularly paying premiums. Say I bought a pension plan with 20 year premium paying term. So, 20 years I will pay premium but I will not receive anything from insurance company. After 20 years which is known as vesting date then depending on the corpus accumulated I will start receiving pension.

So, in money back plan I receive the money during the term of the policy when I am paying premium along with that only every five years or every four year I receive some survival benefit. However, in pension I do not get anything during accumulation phase. I pay regular premium to build a bigger corpus. Only once I stop paying premiums then I start receiving pension. So, it is totally different than the money back plan.
