PE investments down 50% in February; deals at 32-month low

Private equity investments in February declined by over 50 per cent to USD 585 million in the absence of big-ticket deals, says a report.

According to assurance, tax and advisory firm Grant Thornton, there were 44 PE transactions last month worth USD 585 million, as against 97 deals worth USD 1.26 billion a year ago.

"The month saw PE investment volumes decline to a 32-month low, while deal values declined by more than half year-on-year in the absence of big ticket investments," the report said.

Last month saw only one deal valued over USD 100 million, while in February 2016, there were five such deals.
