NAVs decline on fall in markets

Equity diversified NAVs ended lower with advance:decline ratio of 19:233 as rising inflation concerns and a likely slowdown in economic growth spooked Indian equities on Tuesday and sent the Nifty below the 5700-mark at close, dragged down especially by financials.

Equity diversified NAVs ended lower with advance:decline ratio of 19:233 as rising inflation concerns and a likely slowdown in economic growth spooked Indian equities on Tuesday and sent the Nifty below the 5700-mark at close, dragged down especially by financials. Healthcare, Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, select auto and technology companies' shares too added more fuel in fire. However, capital goods, cement and select metal companies' shares led some support to the markets.

  The 30-share BSE Sensex closed at 18,969.45, with loss of 181.83 points or 0.95% and the 50-share NSE Nifty fell 55.85 points or 0.97% to settle at 5,687.40.
All sectoral funds declined.However Long and short term debt funds advanced; their advance:decline ratio stood at 67:17 & 103:8, respectively.
