DSP BlackRock Mutual Fund has increased its exposure to information technology, metals & mining and telecommunication sector. However, it slashed its exposure to oil & gas, banking & financial services and chemicals space.
Top buys by the fund were Praj Industries, Coal India and Bharti Airtel, while top sells includes Hindustan Construction Company, Reliance Industries and IDFC. A study of the scheme for the month of January 2011 shows that in the information technology space, it bought Infosys Technologies, TCS and KPIT Cummins. However, it sold HCL Technologies, CMC and eClerx Services. The scheme has purchased Cola India, Tata Steel and Hindalco in the metals & mining space. It sold Hindustan Zinc, Usha Martin and GMDC. The fund exited from JSW Steel in the same space. (View - All Bulk Deals by Mutual Funds) In the telecommunication lot, it bought Bharti Airtel, Tata Communication, Siemens and Idea Cellular. The scheme sold Reliance Industries, Cairn India and GAIL India, while bought IOCL, HPCL and BPCL in the oil & gas sector. It sold Rural Electrification Corporation, Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services and SBI in the banking & financial services space. The fund exited from Oriental Bank of Commerce, IDBI Bank and Infrastructure Development Finance Company. However, it bought ICICI Bank, Bank Of India and HDFC Bank and introduced Kirloskar Brothers Investments in the space. (Check out - Which sectors are attracting Fund Managers?) In the chemicals pack, it sold Zuari Industries, Coromandel International and Bayer Cropscience and exited from Kiri Dyes and Chemicals. The fund bought Rallis India in the space.
