Moneycontrol BureauThe concept of coat-tail investing represents picking up portfolios of successful investors and putting money to work in the same stocks selected by them. The idea has appeal in its simplicity (disclosures for managers who invest public moneys make sure their stock selection is known to everyone) and, sometimes, the results it produces. In the US for instance, an investor could have coat-tailed Warren Buffett's portfolio buy simply buying Berkshire Hathaway shares -- the money manager's bets would invariably show up in the book value, and share price, of Berkshire.A copycat approach is not as easily doable in India but in sync with the idea, we scoured through our database to look for stocks where mutual funds have been buying in a big way.We screened for stocks where mutual funds have increased their stakes in a company for five consecutive quarters and where their stakes have at least doubled during the same period. Alongside, we also give price performance for each of the stocks that turned up.Below is the list, which, to be clear, is by no means a recommendation of stocks that make it.
