MC Pro launched its New Year 2024 Portfolio on the 18th of December, 2023. Braving extremely volatile markets in the past one year, this portfolio has delivered a point-to-point return (from 18th December 2023 to 3rd January 2025) of 31.4 percent thereby outperforming the benchmark Nifty by 19.5 percent and Nifty 500 by 12.8 percent.

Out of the 17 stocks selected for this portfolio, five stocks delivered stellar returns. With their cumulative weight of 28 percent in the portfolio, they contributed meaningfully to overall returns.

Seven stocks contributing close to 46 percent of the total portfolio weight also outperformed the benchmark by a decent margin and provided stability to the portfolio.

However, five stocks in the portfolio with around 26 percent weight underperformed. However, all five are sound companies with a decent outlook and can, therefore, be held for the long term.
After a volatile year in 2024, the question is what does 2025 hold for investors? We had looked at this in our equity strategy note for 2025 in published on January 6, which points to the likelihood of a back-ended macro and earnings recovery. Near term outlook is still a bit clouded.
