Investors seem more focused on midcaps than largecaps, says R Sreesankar

Investors seem to be more focused on the midcaps across all sectors where the growth prospects look much better than largecaps, says R Sreesankar of Prabhudas Lilladher.

'Prabhudas Lilladher Rising Star 2017 Investor Conference' is underway until Friday. From the sidelines of that R Sreesankar, Head of Institutional Equities, Prabhudas Lilladher spoke to CNBC-TV18 on market fundamentals.

According to him, investors seem to be more focused on the midcaps across all sectors where the growth prospects look much better than largecaps. Some of the midcaps covered in the conference have not been covered, he said.

The abundance of liquidity seen in the market is backed by domestic institutional investor inflows. These flows have even taken care of the outflows by foreign institutional investors in CY16.

The highs that the market is making could also be because of the net buying seen in the market, says Sreesankar, adding that one has seen a tremendous appetite for QIPs, private placements and IPOs.
