Maverick mid-cap investor Mukul Agrawal said the biggest lesson he took away from Rata Tata was a quote he read a long time ago. “ If you want to walk fast walk alone, if you want to walk far, walk together.” This is the one lesson all leaders must learn from Rata Tata, he said.
Tata's inspirational leadership is one of the reasons behind the conglomerate reaching great heights, Agrawal said.
Tata Group companies created significant wealth for shareholders under Rata Tata. However, besides his vision and business values, what stood out about him were human qualities of simplicity and humility, Mukul Agrawal said. His sensitivity to social causes and Tata Group’s contribution in the social sector are hugely inspiring, and something all investors and entrepreneurs can learn from. “It’s something that has inspired me personally and I do my own bit now,” Agrawal said.

Agrawal is a founder trustee of Plaksha University, a private engineering university based in Mohali, Punjab. He has also founder trustee of Shriram Institute of Medical Sciences, a medical college in Maharashtra's Aurangabad, and Dr Hedgewar Hospital, which has 800 beds.
