Gensol Engineering has bagged 30,000 pre-orders for its two-door, two-seater compact EVs Ezio and Ezibot, made by its subsidiary and meant for micro urban mobility, the company said on Januar7 28.
Gensol claims the running cost of the EVs is as low as 50-60 paise per km, making it up to 80% cheaper to operate than petrol vehicles. Ezio is capable of covering 200 km on a single charge, said the company, with full charging in 2-3 hours.
Anmol Singh Jaggi, Gensol's MD said the vehicle 'redefines urban commuting'.
"...our focus is on creating world-class, purpose-driven mobility solutions that address real challenges—such as traffic congestion, rising pollution, and the need for affordable fleet operations," he added.
The orders are from existing fleet operators, and the company said it sees strong market demand for the compact EV as well as the last-mile delivery vehicle.
Pratik Gupta, CEO, Gensol EV confirmed that the company is preparing to commence production at the Chakan, Pune facility, with plans to launch in urban markets like Bengaluru and Delhi. To make the EVs attractive for fleet operators, Gensol is betting on the compact design and affordability for the two EVs.
One of the features that the company is pitching to fleet operators is the EV's 'reverse trike structure', which reduces parking challenges and optimizes storage, offering better maneuverability in dense urban areas. "The vehicle has undergone over 100,000 km of rigorous testing in diverse conditions to meet stringent safety and performance standards," Gensol added.
