Diwali, Dhanteras 2025 stock market holidays: Muhurat Trading is a special one-hour symbolic session conducted annually on Diwali to mark the start of the new Hindu calendar year (Samvat 2082 in 2025).

Trading will be available across multiple segments, including equities, commodity derivatives, currency derivatives, equity futures & options, and securities lending & borrowing (SLB).

The Indian stock market will remain closed for four consecutive days this Diwali season. Both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) will be shut on October 19, 21, and 22, along with the weekend, as Dhanteras falls on Sunday, October 19, Diwali (Laxmi Pujan) on October 21, and Balipratipada on October 22.

The Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) and currency derivatives will also observe the same closure for four days, covering the festival and weekend.

Key Stock Market Holidays in 2025

Diwali Muhurat Trading 2025

As per NSE and BSE circulars released on September 22, the Diwali Muhurat Trading session will be held on October 21 from 1:45 pm to 2:45 pm, with trade modifications allowed until 2:55 pm.

"All trades executed in this Diwali Muhurat trading session shall result in settlement obligations," the NSE said in its circular.
