Kannada Development Authority Chairman Purushottama Bilimale has urged Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao to issue a circular mandating government hospital doctors to write medical prescriptions in Kannada.

“If government doctors across the state, including in taluk and district hospitals, prioritise using Kannada in their prescriptions, it will be a significant step in preserving the Kannada identity,” he said.

“If this is not made mandatory, its implementation may be affected. The state government’s firm stance is crucial, and doctors in all government health centers and hospitals must follow the order to write prescriptions in Kannada. Pro-language activism should also be acknowledged every year on Doctor's Day. It would be beneficial if doctors were recognised at the taluk, district, or state level.” said Bilimale.
