Jio Platforms Limited (JPL), in collaboration with AMD, Cisco, and Nokia, launched an Open Telecom AI Platform designed to develop AI-driven solutions for telecom service providers.
As the platform's first customer, Reliance Jio will deploy it to establish a replicable reference architecture that aims to revolutionize the global service provider industry.
The platform promises to elevate efficiency, security, and capabilities and unlock new revenue streams for telecom providers by integrating AI and automation into every layer of network operations.
The Telecom AI Platform will introduce a centralized intelligence layer across telecom and digital services, utilizing a multi-domain AI framework. It will be agnostic to large language models (LLMs) and leverage open APIs to maximize functionality. The platform combines agentic AI with LLMs, domain-specific Small Language Models (SLMs), and non-GenAI machine learning techniques to enable end-to-end intelligence for network management and operations.
"By harnessing agentic AI across all telco layers, we are building a multimodal, multidomain orchestrated workflow platform that redefines efficiency, intelligence, and security for the telecom industry," said Mathew Oommen, Reliance Jio's group CEO.
“This initiative goes beyond automation—it’s about enabling AI-driven, autonomous networks that adapt in real-time, enhance user experiences, and create new service and revenue opportunities across the digital ecosystem," Oommen added.
Designed to transform performance, reliability, security, and customer experience, the Open Telecom AI Platform will drive the joint development of AI-powered telecom solutions. This initiative aims to spur innovation, optimize network efficiency, and accelerate the adoption of AI-driven applications across the telecom and digital services ecosystem, ultimately enhancing both enterprise and consumer experiences.
AMD CEO Lisa Su emphasized that service providers can build more secure, efficient, and scalable networks by leveraging their portfolio of high-performance computing solutions.
Chuck Robbins, Cisco's Chair and CEO, noted, "This collaboration with Jio Platforms Limited, AMD, and Nokia harnesses the expertise of industry leaders to revolutionize networks with AI."
Pekka Lundmark, Nokia's President and CEO, said, “The Telecom AI Platform will help Jio optimize and monetize their network investments by enhancing performance, security, operational efficiency, automation, and customer experience, all powered by AI.”
