A conciliation meeting between the Karnataka State IT/ITeS Employees Union (KITU) and Tata Consultancy Services, held on August 6, ended without a conclusion in the IT majors' layoffs case. Subsequently, a second round of meeting will be held on September 8.
On July 27, Moneycontrol had exclusively reported that TCS is planning to cut around 2% of its global workforce, translating to around 12,200 jobs, in phases over FY26. The move will majorly impact mid- and senior-level employees.
Meanwhile, the conciliation meeting between the TCS management and office bearers of the Karnataka State IT/ITeS Employees Union (KITU) was held at the Labour Office, Bangalore.
India's largest IT company was represented by Boban Varghese Thomas, General Manager - HR, and Mahesh G.K., Assistant Manager. G. Manjunath, Additional Labour Commissioner, attended the meeting as the conciliation officer.
KITU was represented by General Secretary Suhas Adiga, President V.J.K., and Secretary Sooraj Nidiyanga.
The union is demanding prosecution of the management for violations of the provisions of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, as well as the conditions imposed by the Government of Karnataka concerning the reporting of service particulars.
KITU also demanded the initiation of criminal proceedings against the officials involved in the criminal act of forcing employees to resign, after receiving complaints from several of its members.
