Labour Standing Committee member urges labour, IT ministers to act on TCS layoffs

Raja Ram Singh, a Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and of the Standing Committee on Labour, Textiles and Skill Development, has urgently called for government intervention to halt what he described as "illegal lay-offs" in Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and the broader Indian IT/ITES sector.

In a letter dated October 1, 2025, addressed to Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of Labour and Employment, and Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, Singh raised alarming concerns about mass retrenchments.

Moneycontrol exclusively reported in July 2025 that TCS will terminate over 12,000 employees.
