India Vs New Zealand: Disney+ Hotstar hits 53 million concurrent viewers to set new streaming record

Disney+ Hotstar has surpassed its previous record of 44 million concurrent viewers, which was set during India versus South Africa match on November 5.

Disney's video streaming service Disney+ Hotstar set a new global live streaming viewership record on November 15, as the former Indian captain Virat Kohli hit a landmark 50th century against New Zealand during the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 semi final match.

Disney+ Hotstar hit a staggering 53 million concurrent viewers, surpassing the previous record of 44 million concurrent viewers, set during the India versus South Africa match on November 5.

Disney+ Hotstar, the current market leader in India's booming streaming landscape, has been on a back-to-back record-breaking streak over the past month.

"Their (Indian fans) incredible passion has led us to shatter the peak concurrency record four times during this tournament, setting new benchmarks in live sports streaming. The 5.3 crore concurrent viewers for India's semifinal against New Zealand exceeds the combined population of Australia and New Zealand by more than 1.5 times" said Sajith Sivanandan, head of Disney+ Hotstar in a statement.
