"We'll approve the proposal of Centre only if they give assurance of compensation to us," Jharkhand Finance Minister Radha Krishna Kishore said on September 3 as the GST Council meeting kicks off. GST rate cuts are expected on a range of goods.
Kishore said that he doesn't feel that there is any need for voting on the Central government's proposal, which was approved by the Group of Ministers (GoM) last month.
"Providing compensation is the responsibility of the central government," added Kishore.
He was speaking to reporters ahead of the GST Council meeting, scheduled for today and Thursday.
Seven State ministers of opposition, namely Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Kerala, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and West Bengal, attended the second pre-Council meeting in the national capital.
Jharkhand FM also said that the state will seek Rs 2,000 crore annually from Centre as compensation for revenue loss due to GST cuts.
