Fed played good role in not upsetting economy or financial mkts: Bruno Verstraete

In an interview to CNBC-TV18, Bruno Verstraete, Partner of Lakefield Partners shared his readings and outlook on Fed's rate hike.

Dollar did start to weaken against major currencies quite quickly after the announcement because the interpretation of the market was that the next rate hike might be shifted backward a bit because of inflation being so muted and because Yellen's rhetoric, he said.

It's a good thing in a way that the normalisation in the US is taking place, said Verstraete. "I think the Fed has played an extremely good role in not upsetting the economy or the financial markets," he added.

He also mentioned that depending on the inflation numbers in Europe, the dollar might stay at the same level or increase a bit in the short to medium-term.
