The National Health Policy approved by Union Cabinet earlier this week, is 'proactive and timely', according to Devi Shetty, Chairman of Narayana Hrudayalaya.
The policy, that came after a 15-year long wait, aims to increase public healthcare expenditure to 2.5 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) and making healthcare affordable.
Shetty added the government's focus on primary healthcare is a welcome approach given private sector’s limited bandwidth to reach out to the poor people and will be a positive impact towards the economy as well as the health of the nation.
