HDFC hikes rate by 50 bps, LIC Housing likely to follow

India’s largest housing finance company HDFC on Tuesday hiked its retail prime lending rate (RPLR) by 50 bps to 16.50% on its loans with effect from August 01, 2011. LIC Housing Finance or LICHFC may soon join the race.

After a series of lending rate hikes by banks, housing finance companies have just started following the suit.  India's largest housing finance company HDFC on Tuesday hiked its retail prime lending rate (RPLR) by 50 basis points to 16.50% on its loans with effect from August 1.. LIC Housing Finance (LICHFC) may soon join the race.
