United Spirits Q1 net up over 3-fold to Rs 44 crore

The company had posted a net profit of Rs 11.61 crore for the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, United Spirits said in a filing to the BSE.

Diageo-owned United Spirits today reported an over three-fold jump in its standalone net profit at Rs 43.80 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2016.

The company had posted a net profit of Rs 11.61 crore for the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, United Spirits said in a filing to the BSE.

Standalone total income from operations of the company stood at Rs 2,040.54 crore for the quarter under consideration as against Rs 1,866.15 crore for the same period a year ago.

Commenting on the results, United Spirits CEO Anand Kripalu said: "Our strategy and investments over the last 2 years have clearly driven momentum. Looking at our first quarter results, the overall performance demonstrates that we have the right strategy in place, focusing on premiumization coupled with selective participation in popular." Shares of United Spirits Ltd today closed at Rs 2,460.50 per scrip on BSE, up 0.18 per cent from its previous close.
