Telecom operator Idea Cellular's consolidated net profit grew by 34.7 percent quarter-on-quarter to Rs 308 crore in March quarter, helped by strong subscriber additions. The company fared well operationally on all fronts.


Consolidated net revenue increased by 8.7 percent Q-o-Q to Rs 6,061 crore led by 8.5 percent jump in voice minutes to 143 billion Q-o-Q, said Himanshu Kapania, managing director, Idea Cellular.
Analysts on an average had expected net profit at Rs 266 crore and revenues at Rs 5,873 crore for the quarter.
Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose by 13.5 percent Q-o-Q  to Rs 1,673 crore, beating analysts' forecast of rupees 1,565 crore.
EBITDA margins jumped by 120 basis points Q-o-Q to 27.6 percent in January-March quarter as against analysts' estimates of 26.6 percent.
Average revenue per minute increased to 41.2 paise in fourth quarter FY13 as against 41.1 paise in previous quarter.
According to a release sent to exchanges, active 3G subscriber base of the telecom operator stands at 5.1 million.
The stock rose 1.22 percent to close at Rs 116.25, up 1.22 percent amid large volumes on Bombay Stock Exchange. Also Read - Credit Suisse: China JLR sales surge to boost Tata Motors
