Wipro has appointed Abidali Neemuchwala as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective February 1, 2016. Post this move, the former Executive Vice Chairman TK Kurien has been elevated as the Vice Chairman with effect from the same tenure.
In a statement released, Wipro has said that Kurien will continue to be a member of the board until March 31, 2017 and will continue to report to Azim Premji."As executive vice chairman, TK will enable Abid by leveraging his deep relationships with customers and chart out a new tchnology roadmap for Wipro," Premji said in a statement."In his nine months as the group president and chief operating officer, Abid has effortlessely assimilated into the culture and ethos of Wipro. The new structure will ensure smooth succession and will build on the solid foundation we have developed to drive suprerior growth and profitability," he added.
Neemuchwala had joined Wipro as Group President and Chief Operating Officer in April last year, quitting India's largest software services firm Tata Consultancy Services after 23 years.
