Western Digital expects over 20% growth in India consumer biz

The company, which launched new hard drives in India under 'My passport' and 'My Book' range, said it is focussing on enhancing design elements of its products to tap into the millenial consumers.

Storage solutions major Western Digital expects a 20 percent growth in its consumer business segment in India this year, placing big bets on the booming smartphone sales and increasing content consumption in the country.

The company, which launched new hard drives in India under 'My passport' and 'My Book' range, said it is focussing on enhancing design elements of its products to tap into the millenial consumers.

"Over the last few years, we have seen about 20 percent growth. This is being driven by growing consumption and creation of content. I see no reason why we should not be able to continue the growth momentum," Western Digital Director (Content Solutions Business - India, Middle East and Africa) Khalid Wani told PTI.

He, however, did not disclose any financial details.
