In an interview to CNBC-TV18, Gurmeet Singh, ED-Sales, Marketing & Business Planning at Hitachi Homes discussed the fundamentals of the business.
He hopes there will be no loss of revenue to them or dealers due to goods and services tax (GST).
However, cannot attribute 100 percent to GST. There are reports that consumer buying is down. So it may not be on account of trade destocking. It could be a function of confusion in customer's mind as to what is going to happen, he added.
Can expect decline year-on-year in AC sales in summer of 2017, said Singh.
"The customer footfall in the showroom was down and the dealer itself was also not willing to pick up," he said.
"The companies would take a cautious call on whether to go in for increased price or go in for a lower margin," he added.
According to him, an immediate price increase might be a bit difficult.
