Amul has cut prices on more than 700 product packs, including butter, ghee, cheese, ice cream, and frozen snacks, with the new rates coming into effect from September 22, 2025. The price revision follows the recent reduction in GST rates. The revision comes as GCMMF, which markets dairy products under the Amul brand, decided to fully pass on the benefits of the recent GST rate cut to customers.
More than 700 product packs, spanning butter, ghee, cheese, paneer, chocolates, bakery items and frozen snacks, have seen marked price drops, effective September 22.
Amul butter products see major price correction post GST rate reduction
For everyday staples, Amul Butter (100g) has been reduced from Rs 62 to Rs 58, while the 500g pack now costs Rs 285 instead of Rs 305. Ghee prices have been slashed sharply, with the 1-litre carton down by Rs40 to Rs 610 and the 5-litre tin down by Rs 200 to Rs 3,075.
Amul milk prices post GST rate reduction
Milk has also become more affordable, with Amul Taaza Toned Milk (1L UHT) dropping from Rs 77 to Rs 75, and Amul Gold (1L UHT) from Rs 83 to Rs 80.
Frozen items see major price cuts
Frozen and processed items have seen cuts too. Frozen paneer (200g) now costs Rs 95, down from Rs 99, while processed cheese (1kg block) has fallen by Rs 30 to Rs 545. Smaller packs, like cheese cubes (200g) and diced cheese blend (200g), are cheaper by Rs 9 and Rs 14 respectively.
Amul ice-cream range to see major price cuts
The ice-cream range has seen some of the steepest cuts. Tub Vanilla Magic (1L) has dropped from Rs 195 to Rs 135 (a saving of Rs 60), while the popular Kulfi Punjabi (60ml) now costs just Rs10 compared to Rs 15 earlier. Premium flavours like Duetz Gold Mango (60ml) have been reduced by Rs25, and even small cup servings like Strawberry Cup (55ml) are now available at Rs 10 instead of Rs20.
Amul chocolate prices post GST rate reduction
Amul Dark Chocolate (150g) has fallen from Rs 200 to Rs180, and the Chocominis 250g tub has been cut by Rs 40 to Rs 400. Bakery products like Amul Butter Cookies (200g) have dropped by Rs10 to Rs65, while a 450g pack of Sugar-Free Cookies is now available at Rs225, down from Rs250.
Drop in frozen snacks, specialty item price post GST rate cut
Specialty items, including Amul Mithai Mate (400g tin), are also cheaper, with a Rs 10 reduction bringing the price to Rs120. In frozen snacks, Amul French Fries (1.25kg) have been reduced from Rs 405 to Rs 365.
“Amul believes the reduction in prices will spur consumption of a wide range of dairy products particularly ice cream, cheese and butter, as the per capita consumption remains very low in India, creating a large growth opportunity,” GCMMF said in a statement.
Owned by 36 lakh farmers, GCMMF added that the move is expected to boost demand and further drive its turnover. Earlier, Mother Dairy had also announced price cuts across its product range starting September 22.
