Cabinet may take up Rafale aircraft deal today

About 16 months after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a deal to buy 36 Rafale fighter aircraft, the Cabinet Committee on Security may take up the Rafale fighter deal on Monday, reports CNBC-TV18’s Rituparna Bhuyan.

About 16 months since Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a deal to buy 36 Rafale fighter aircraft, the Cabinet Committee on Security may take up the Rafale fighter deal on Monday, reports CNBC-TV18’s Rituparna Bhuyan.

According to the deal, 36 fighters will be ordered in 'ready to fly' condition from France-based Dassault Aviation. Indian defence manufacturers may supply parts to Dassault at 50% of deal value which is pegged at Euro 7.8 billion.

The companies eyeing the project include BEL, BEML, Kalyani Group, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and the Tata Group.Watch video for more...
