GAIL to add 3 more CNG-filling stations in Vadodara

Vadodara, Jun 15 (PTI) In addition to the 6 CNG filling stations in the city, the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) plans to set up 3 more CNG stations in the city, municipal commissioner Manoj Kumar Das said.

In addition to the six CNG filling stations in the city, the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) plans to set up three more CNG stations in the city, municipal commissioner Manoj Kumar Das said.

GAIL has approached the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) to allot plots to it in Karelibag, Nizampura Chhani Jakat naka and near Utkarsh Vidyalaya on Saiyed Vasna road in the city for this purpose. The six CNG stations presently supply more than 30,000 kg to cater to over 4,000 vehicles. The GAIL has sought 16,000 sq metres of land in Karelibag locality, 1600 sq meters of land in Nizampura Chhani Jakatnaka locality and 1381 sq meter near Utkarsh vidyalaya on Saiyed Vasna Road. Das said, "These three plots will be given to GAIL on yearly rental basis." The total upset values of all these plots is Rs 15.81 crore. The joint venture between GAIL and VMC will have an authorised share capital of Rs 100 crore. GAIL, through its wholly-owned subsidiary, GAIL Gas Ltd, will hold 26% equity, while VMC will have 24% equity. The balance 50% will be held by financial institutions and strategic partners. The proposed venture has a total capital expenditure plan of about Rs 150 crore in the first five years and about Rs 170 crore will be invested for further expansion. "VMC has laid pipelines to connect about 75,000 houses for the piped natural gas. Through this company, we plan to connect another 85,000 households in the coming years," Das said.
