Patni's new management mantra: Small teams more cohesive

iGATE has successfully completed the acquisition of Patni Computer. This brings on board a new management and a new business plan for Patni.

According to new member board that has been announced, Jai Pathak will be the new chairman of Patni and Phaneesh Murthy will take over as MD and CEO subject to statutory approvals. Phaneesh Murhty in an interview with CNBC-TV18 said that historically, Patni had a fairly high attrition rate, probably higher than industry average. Any attrition is matter of concern for the company. Talking about trimming the executive committee, he said, "We need smaller teams working more collaboratively, more cohesively together. Q: You have seen a significant amount of churn at Patni. We understand and these are of course unofficial numbers about 200 people have quit Patni since the time that the two of you are actually started this integration process and this deal actually took off. What are you actually going to do about attrition? I understand that you are going to start with the sales and marketing department but how concerned are you about this at this point in time?
