Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (RINL), the corporate entity of shore-based Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), has registered an all-round improvement in its performance in February 2013.
VSP registered a growth of 9 percent over the sales of last month (Rs 1341 crore) by achieving a turnover of Rs 1,465 crore, the highest turnover in February since inception, according to a release issued by the company.
Saleable steel sales registered a growth of 5 percent over corresponding month last year. Pig iron sale of Rs 199 crore through exports in February this year was 246 per cent higher than corresponding period last year.
Special steel sales constitute 85 percent of the total saleable steel in February, representing a growth of 13 percent.
Several initiatives were taken by VSP to boost rural market and the total rural dealers appointed by the plant reached 526 in the country, the release added.
