Infra issues more 'matter of perception': Govt official

Large private sector CEOs' have been very concerned about the investment cycle being very tepid. However, Gajendra Haldea, Adviser to Deputy Chairman and Principal Adviser of infrastructure at Planning Commission indicated that the sentiments and speculations are far more exaggerated than the reality.

The slowdown in local economy and sluggish investment cycle is giving CEOs sleepless nights as they see it as a major cause of concern going forward.


However, Gajendra Haldea, Adviser to Deputy Chairman and Principal Adviser of infrastructure at Planning Commission indicated that the sentiments and speculations are far more exaggerated than the reality, but admists that the country is passing through a tough phase currently.
Moreover, he is very confident of issues being resolved in the infrastructure sector and feels the medium term outlook is more positive for that space. He also mentioned that the lack of policy move on infrastructure is more about perception than reality.
"I do not subscribe to the view that there are only negatives in infra sector. Infrastructure sector spending in 11th five year plan was more than two times that in 10th year plan," Haldea pointed out.
