Gold futures hit fresh lifetime highs on October 8, extending a record rally. This comes as global uncertainties including extended US government shutdown, inflation concerns and other factors continued to boost the safe-haven appeal of the precious metal.

Analysts however advise caution, suggesting that investors may resort to profit booking at these elevated levels, resulting in some consolidation in short-term. However, they remain bullish on the long-term outlook for gold.

Gold futures hit fresh lifetime highs:

Gold futures on Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) with December expiry hit an all-time high level of Rs 1,22,220 per 10 grams today. The future contracts with February and April expiry also hit lifetime highs of Rs 1,23,544 per 10 grams and Rs 1,24,850 per 10 grams respectively.
