Gul Panag is busy juggling numerous balls in the air but her main focus right now is taking her three entrepreneurial ventures to new heights.
In CNBC-TV18’s special series "Star Entrepreneurs", Priya Sheth and Arundathi Ramanan tell us more about Panag’s ventures.
Production house Tittar Lodge Productions, fitness software design firm Mobiefit and e-commerce venture Tressmart all have one thing in common are Panag’s three ventures.
A self-proclaimed serial entrepreneur, Gul Panag is closely involved in managing business strategy and operations for all three ventures but her immediate focus is on Mobiefit, which she co-founded last year. The company has raised a million dollars in the latest round of fund raising and she is now working on scaling up operations.
“This year is going to be a big year at Mobiefit, we hope to launch apps in beta also - walk to walk and desi body. We have investors who monitor our progress and give us targets that we must meet,” says Panag.
When asked if she would look at a subscription model and at integrating software with a wearable device. Panag says, you can only charge from customers once you've earned that right. “We are keenly watching the wearable market. We have dedicated resources which we can allocate to make our apps able to match the wearable market,” she adds.
Tressmart, her latest venture, is in the e-commerce space and concentrates on haircare products. Panag says this was a logical step, given India’s recent penchant for all thing e-commerce. “The environment in India is very conducive to doing things that are not traditiona and that space using the digital medium can be exploited very well. Looking forward to Tressmart, which is a hair specific e-commerce portal.
With Tressmart being launched at the start of the year, Panag is still working out the kinks in her plans to expand the business but she is confident things will be in place in a few weeks.
However, till these plans are finalised, Panag is not looking at adding to her tally.
