The World Trade Organisation has set up a panel to settle the countervailing duty (CVD) dispute that exists between India and the United States, reports Rituparna Bhuyan of CNBC-TV18.

In April 2012, India has complaint at the WTO against the US countervailing duties of 102% on Indian Carbon Steel, saying that these duties are not consistent with WTO rules and norms.
After that, India and the US had two rounds of consultations to sort out the issue but those consultations failed and today at India's request the WTO agreed to set up a dispute settlement panel to now look at this complaint by India.
This is one of the trade disputes that India and the US has already filed a complaint against India's restrictive import policy regarding coal fees. Meanwhile, India has given final touches to a complaint on high US visa fees.
