The chargesheet in the Reebok scam pegs the monetary loss at only Rs 10.6 crore as against the alleged figure of Rs 870 crore in the FIR. CNBC-TV18's Ronojoy Banerjee, quoting sources, explains the impact on Reebok and the key accused.
This certainly appears to be a huge relief to the two key accused. Sources indicate that based on the chargesheet that has been filed, the two key accused will also apply for bail later this week. Owing to the complexity of the case, the Gurgaon police had roped in a chartered accountant to dissect the various contours of the alleged Rs 870-crore scam. However, on several allegations, the Gurgaon police has opined that the monetary loss per se to the company cannot be ascertained. One of the allegations was that the goods that were billed were not dispatched, which the company in the FIR had alleged, caused a loss of about Rs 147 crore. In the chargesheet the police has stated that the monetary loss cannot be ascertained. The police has also opined that the fake sales a certain company called KK Enterprises cannot not be proved. Reebok officials have confirmed that that there is no change in the alleged loss of Rs 870-crore and add that a pre-tax settlement, which is eagerly awaited, will reveal the exact extent of the loss.Discover the latest Business News, Sensex, and Nifty updates.
