Two weeks after the country's largest car-maker, Maruti Suzuki, signed an agreement for over 700 acres with the Gujarat state government to set up its third manufacturing facility, CNBC-TV18's Ronojoy Bannerjee reports, quoting sources, that the company is seeking more land in the state.

Capacity at the new Gujarat plant would be expanded only as measure of last resort. Maruti's Gurgoan facility is already operating at capacity and Plant C at Manesar is going to be commissioned very soon. With this both Manesar and Gurgoan will be operating at full capacity.
However, Maruti Suzuki officials have not clearly stated the amount of land required for the plant in Gujarat. Officials indicate that another 300 acres, which will take that total acreage of the facility to 1,000 acres, will be more than enough.
Of the 700 acres allocated, 100 acres will be leased to vendors to set up facilities.
A Maruti Suziki spokesperson refused to specifically comment on the exact amount of land the company plans to acquire the Gujarat government and added that it was too early to disclose any detail.
