KG-D6 row: RIL requests oil secy to resolve all issues

Reliance Industries has pressed on the oil secretary to intervene and resolve all pending issues standing in the way of RIL's petroleum operations adding the government should consider itself an equal partner and not an adversary.

Two days after invoking arbitration against the Indian government for trying to restrict its cost recovery at the KG-D6, Reliance Industries had told the oil secretary that it is willing to carry out pre-development activities at the R-series and Sattelfields of the KG-D6 at its own risk and would not seek cost recovery immediately. CNBC-TV18's Nayantara Rai reports.

Also read: RIL's D6 block gas output falls to all-time low RIL said it'll press its right for cost recovery, once the final field development plan is approved.  In the same letter, RIL's executive director PMS Prasad said if the company does not get this nod on priority, the entire operation could be delayed by one-year as there is a very tight weather window available between December 2011 and March 2012. The company has seen gas output from its eastern offshore KG-D6 gas fields drop to a fresh all-time low of 39.80 million standard cubic metres per day. Natural gas production from the Dhirubhai-1 and 3 gas fields and the MA oilfield in the KG-DWN-98/3, or KG-D6, block in the Krishna-Godavari Basin of the Bay of Bengal stood at 39.80 mmscmd in the week ended December 4, according to a status report filed by the company with the Oil Ministry here.
