Ford India has recalled a whopping 1.28 lakh units of the hatchback Figo and Sedan Classic as part of a voluntary field service action, reports CNBC-TV18's Ronojoy Banerjee.
Earlier this year, Honda had recalled certain models of the City Sedan, but it was nowhere close to 1.3 lakh units as it is in case of Ford.
Many of the models that were produced roughly between January 2008 and December 2010 had faulty rear beams and many customers were also complaining about the power steering hose.
The larger issue over here is, about a month ago, SIAM announced a voluntary recall policy. The whole idea behind it was that if the company feels any need of recall, they have to make an announcement.
Ford India in a statement issued toCNBC-TV18 said that these recalls started happening as far back as July 23.
The big question really is what is that held Ford back? Why is it that they did not come out and make an announcement as what SIAM had claimed?
Many people also raised concerns with respect to SIAM’s voluntary recall. It seems that Ford issued a statement only after CNBC-TV18 send out a query.
