In a big aviation infrastructure update from Uttar Pradesh, the Noida International Airport is reportedly in talks to set up a mega repair hub at next to the Jewar Airport. According to a Times of India report, the airport authority is gearing up to issue the express of interest (EOI) in September. It will be mega complex that will have maintenance, repair and overhaul services available adjacent to the Jewar Airport.
The report said that the MRO hub is part of Jewar project’s second phase. To set up the hub, the authority will need to acquire 1,365 hectares of land. This parcel of land will be dedicated to MRO hub and related activities, the TOI report added. It further said that the Yogi Adityanath government is already in process and has begun to acquire land for the aviation hub.
The report said that the Noida International Airport Ltd has reached out to several global players. The elicit a positive response, the UP government has also come out with a special MRO policy. Under this initiative, the government will provide special subsidy to companies. The subsidy will range between 5 and 12 percent.
A Business Today report citing the industry experts said that Jewar has seen a 400 percent increase in the land prices in the last six years. According to the report, cost of 1 hectare of land now costs Rs 1.5 crore as compared with Rs 25 lakh in 2018.
