Through "atmanirbharta", India is building supply chains to navigate through weaponisation of trade, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal said on September 30.
Delivering the address at the curtain raiser event for the 30th CII Partnership Summit in New Delhi, Goyal said great partnerships are built on technology, trust, trade, talent, and tradition. "In this new geopolitical world order, India is working on Atmanirbharta - building supply chains which can help us in difficult times and give us end to end assurance that we will not be subject to any weaponisation of trade and we'll always be in a position to meet our international obligations," he said.
"Second focus is on Atmavishwas - self confidence. When we engage with other countries of the world, we are confident of being equal participants or stakeholder. Third is Atmaraksha - protecting the interests of Indian people," the Union minister said.
He also reiterated the recent overhaul of the GST framework. “These changes simplify taxation, reduce consumer burden, and stimulate consumption-led growth. Our goal is to create a stable, fair, and competitive tax system that attracts long-term investment and enhances ease of doing business,” Goyal added.
Also speaking at the event, Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu said Google will be building its biggest data centre after the US in Vishakhapatnam. "Google is going to set up its biggest data centre with AI in Vishakhapatnam. After US, this will be their biggest data centre in the world. Besides, Arcelor Mittal-Nippon is setting up a steel plant and BPCL is investing Rs 1 lakh crore to set up a petrochem plant," he said.
Outlining Andhra Pradesh’s ambitious infrastructure plans, Naidu said, “On our 1,000 km east coast, we aim to build a port every 50 km. We’re expanding airports and developing world-class logistics. Andhra Pradesh has consistently ranked No. 1 in ease of doing business, and now, we’re accelerating the speed of doing business.”
He also highlighted the “Swarna Andhra @ 2047” vision, supported by 21 sector-specific policy documents spanning IT, food processing, clean energy, electronics manufacturing, and more. The vision is anchored in 10 guiding principles, including zero poverty, deep tech integration, water security, global logistics, and Agri-Tech empowerment.
In renewable energy, Naidu said India is planning 500 GW by 2030, of which Andhra Pradesh will install 160 GW. "Andhra Pradesh is well positioned for solar, wind and pumped hydro storage. In our ports, we are focusing on green hydrogen and green ammonia. We aim to become India's renewable energy capital contributing to India's decarbonisation journey and India's global climate goals," he siad.
By January 2026, Naidu said, Andhra Pradesh will be launching quantum computing operations in Amravati. "This will be a first of its kind. By doing this, our people are preparing to produce quantum computers within two years time," he said.
This year's CII Partnership Summit, themed “Technology, Trust, and Trade: Navigating the New Geoeconomic Order,” is being organized in association with Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Government of Andhra Pradesh is the host state.
