Manish Malhotra has long styled Rekha for her public appearances, drawing attention to classic intricate details. For her outing at a recent awards show, the case was no different. The designer didn’t leave any stone unturned to make it special and recreated her iconic look from ‘Umrao Jaan’.

He took to his Instagram account and shared how the saree for the event was inspired by Rekha’s legendary song ‘In Aankhon Ki Masti’ from ‘Umrao Jaan’, sung by none other than Asha Bhosle. He further detailed that the special silver embossed woven tissue saree was paired with a matching full-sleeve blouse, making the legendary star look regal on the red carpet.

He added, “Saree inspired by your own iconic work is a statement that no one can match on the red carpet or at the awards…Only legendary #Rekhaji can.” His praise was backed by Rekha’s pictures where she looked beautiful in the luxe drape whose shine matched her timeless aura.

Rekha’s styling was equally grand, with her long braided hair and golden paranda stealing the spotlight. Statement earrings and bangles also caught attention. Her makeup was flawlessly done, with warm tones and red lips enhancing her beauty. The actress carried a matching potli, complementing her traditional ensemble beautifully.

This year has been special for the veteran star, as a restored version of her classic film ‘Umrao Jaan’ was released in June. Directed by Muzaffar Ali, the film originally came out in 1981 and won her a National Award. For its screening, she stepped out looking glamorous in a tissue lehenga that turned many heads.
