Homebound star Janhvi Kapoor’s Cannes debut has been nothing short of impressive. Adding to the buzz, she donned two classic archival pieces by Yves Saint Laurent, drawing the internet’s attention for more reasons than one.
The actress, who has been showcasing distinct styles at events since her arrival, truly looked like a star at the AmfAR Gala in a black jacket paired with designer Anamika Khanna’s luxe skirt and a wide-brimmed hat. The all-black look was a smash hit on the red carpet.
Stylist Rhea Kapoor revealed the details of her look, sharing, “Paying homage to my favourite years of Yves Saint Laurent in an ensemble featuring a sculptural saucer hat from YSL Rive Gauche, 1987, and a velvet jacket from 1989. We pair it with a diaphanous silk chiffon skirt inspired by Yves’ poetic era between 1987 and 1991—custom made by Anamika Khanna—and complete the look with the most exquisite yellow diamonds by Chopard.”
For another outing, Janhvi wore a classic backless gown from Yves Saint Laurent’s Rive Gauche 1975 collection. Styled again by Rhea Kapoor, the gown featured a halter neck, with the fabric flowing smoothly down her curvaceous frame.
It was aptly paired with diamond pear-shaped studs from Birdhichand Ghanshyamdas Jewellers. To further accessorise, she wore all-black Christian Louboutin wedges, a mini Hermès Kelly, and a pair of Miu Miu sunglasses.
Janhvi’s blush-pink makeup softened the powerful black look, while her messy hair enhanced the feminine charm. The whole ensemble struck a balance between bold and delicate, elegant and messy.
Before this, Janhvi had worn another black dress from Dior’s 1957 haute couture collection. While the YSL gown leaned towards modern-chic, the Dior number exuded vintage charm.
