The Directorate of Elementary Education (DEE), Assam, has announced 4,500 teaching vacancies for Lower Primary (LP) and Upper Primary (UP) schools. The recruitment aims to enhance the quality of elementary education in the state, aligning with the Right to Education Act, 2009. The application process will be conducted online through the official website dee.assam.gov.in from 15 February to 31 March 2025.
Vacancies
- Lower Primary (LP) Schools: 2,900 posts for Assistant Teachers.
- Upper Primary (UP) Schools: 1,600 posts for Assistant Teachers, Science Teachers, and Hindi Teachers.
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must have qualified the Assam Teacher Eligibility Test (ATET) or Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), relevant to the level of the school they are applying for.
- Language 1 or Language 2 qualifications in ATET/CTET must match the medium of instruction at the school.
- Age Limit: Applicants must be between 18 and 40 years as of 1 January 2025. Age relaxations apply for candidates from reserved categories.
- Family Size: Candidates with more than two living children born after 1 January 2021 are not eligible.
DEE Assam will prepare separate merit lists for each district and category. Candidates are advised to carefully review the detailed guidelines provided in the official notification available on the website.
Pay Scale and Benefits
Selected candidates will be placed in Pay Band 2 (Rs. 14,000 – Rs. 70,000) along with grade pay and allowances as per “The Assam Service (Revision of Pay) (Amendment) Rules, 2019.”

Eligible candidates can submit their applications online starting 15 February 2025. The deadline for submission is 31 March 2025. Applicants must ensure all necessary documents and details are submitted accurately to avoid disqualification.
