A recent report in Nature Reviews Clinical Oncology, which suggested a notable increase in cancer cases among adults under 50 in recent decades, has set alarm bells ringing all over the world. While advancing age has long been a known risk factor for cancer, this rise in the number of cancer patients among younger adults is troubling.

Recently Princess of Wales, 42, shared the details of her health journey in a recorded message broadcasted two days after its recording. "In January, I underwent significant abdominal surgery in London, initially under the belief that my condition was non-cancerous," Kate Middleton revealed. However, post-surgery tests revealed the presence of cancer. Consequently, her medical team recommended a regimen of preventative chemotherapy, which she has now commenced. Kate described the diagnosis as a "tremendous shock" and acknowledged the time it took to process and communicate the news to her three children, George, Charlotte, and Louis, alongside Prince William.

It's crucial to note that while many signs and symptoms can be concerning, they may not always signify cancer. Still it must prompt a visit to a healthcare professional for further evaluation.

For instance, the swelling of lymph nodes, crucial to the immune system, can occur due to infection, inflammation, or cancer. Any unusual swelling or lumps should be assessed by a doctor.

Oncologist Rashmi Duggal suggests some common signs and symptoms that might be associated with cancer, although they can also stem from other conditions.


While these symptoms are commonly associated with cancer, there are numerous others not listed here. Any significant changes in health should be discussed with a doctor, particularly if they persist or worsen over time.
